Om denne boken

"Sawn Off: A Tale of a Family Tree" by George Manville Fenn is a novel written in the late 19th century. This engaging narrative revolves around the conflicts between Doctor Salado, a charming character who has recently returned to England from South America, and the entitled Lord Pinemount, who feels a sense of ownership over the land that the Doctor has acquired. The book introduces themes of class struggle, love, and family loyalty through the lens of their interactions, focusing particularly on Salado's daughter, Veronica, and her budding relationship with Lord Pinemount's son, Denis. At the start of the story, the tension is immediately palpable as Doctor Salado expresses his frustration over a construction project led by Lord Pinemount that obstructs his cottage's view. The narrative quickly reveals that Salado is protective of his daughter, Veronica, who has developed feelings for Denis. She attempts to mediate between her father's fiery temper and the aloofness of the noble family despite the social divide. As a result, the opening chapters set the stage for a clash of wills, misunderstandings, and heartfelt conflicts as the characters navigate familial expectations, love interests, and their own identities within the constraints set by society. This blend of humor and drama promises an intricate tale rich in character development and social commentary.
