Om denne boken

Legszebb orosz mesék kisfiuknak, kislányoknak by graf Leo Tolstoy is a collection of children’s fairy tales and moral fables drawn from Russian storytelling, compiled and translated for young readers in a style associated with the late 19th to early 20th century. The book offers brief, accessible pieces that teach kindness, honesty, diligence, prudence, and compassion through simple plots and memorable images.

Across its short tales, children rescue a lost kitten, a greedy clay boy melts back into mud, and a careless act costs a poor family their beloved cow. A frost-spirit rewards a hardworking stepdaughter and punishes a vain girl; a blacksmith saves a cat from a blaze; a water-king tests honesty with golden and silver axes; and parables spotlight the limits of analogy (a blind man asking about “white”), the punishment of deceitful traders, and the wisdom of measured justice. Folktale turns include a mouse-girl who marries her own kind after seeking the “strongest,” a tragic water-snake husband, a clever child escaping robbers, trickster animals, and legends of judgment and fairness. Larger arcs show a prince learning that providence, work, and trade all have their place, while two brothers choose between safe contentment and bold striving. Together the stories gently guide young readers toward empathy, responsibility, and moral courage.
