The work provides an extensive catalog of post offices across Canada during that period, including the names of the postmasters and relevant geographical details. This document serves as an important record for understanding the postal system's structure and administration in Canada during that time. The opening portion of the work establishes its purpose as a reference guide by presenting a detailed list of post offices as of July 1, 1874, organized by province, township, and electoral division.
