Lord Lister No. 0336: Een avontuur in Alaska

Om denne boken

"Lord Lister No. 0336: Een avontuur in Alaska" by Matull, Blankensee, and Hageman is a pulp adventure novella written in the early 20th century. Set on Alaska’s thawing frontier, it pits the gentleman-thief Lord Lister (Raffles) and his companions Charly Brand and James Henderson against ruthless outlaws while aiding young trapper Tom Hatters and his wife Jessie. Expect fast-paced chases, jailbreaks, and siege-and-rescue theatrics amid settlements, ravines, and a brand-new railway.

The opening of the novella plunges into a sudden Alaskan spring and a tense jailbreak: Dolly Patterson, burning for revenge after her lover Mike Penalty’s death, strangles a jailer, escapes Cedar Tree, and rallies a gang to free her new partner Pat O’Kelly. After a night raid liberates Pat, the scene shifts to Tom and Jessie’s remote farm, where Raffles and friends are visiting before departing by train; Tom fetches a large payment for his pelts despite Raffles’s misgivings. Soon after the men leave, Dolly’s band besieges the house; Jessie’s horse is shot as she rides for help, but she reaches a trackside trolley, flags down the express, and reunites with Raffles. Racing back on the trolley, the trio circle behind the attackers; Henderson silently lassos the man guarding the bandits’ horses as the rescue begins.
