Veljekset Romaani

About this book

"Veljekset" by Arvid Järnefelt is a novel likely written in the late 19th century. The story begins with Henrik, one of a group of brothers, living on the outskirts of a city where he feels isolated and detached from his former life in the countryside. The narrative unfolds in a detailed setting that contrasts his new urban environment with memories of his more intimate and warm family home. The opening of the novel sets a melancholic tone as it explores Henrik's feelings of alienation in his new surroundings. He lives in a small, modest house amid a bustling urban landscape, characterized by loneliness and disconnection from his past. Henrik's reflections reveal a yearning for his childhood home and the connections he once had with his family, especially as he grapples with the weight of his responsibilities and aspirations. The stage is set for a deeper exploration of familial ties, personal identity, and the longing to return to a lost paradise as the story progresses.
