Spiritismo?

About this book

"Spiritismo?" by Luigi Capuana is a literary exploration written in the late 19th century. This work delves into the subject of spiritism, presenting the author's contemplations and observations on the phenomena associated with spiritual communication and the psychological implications behind them. The primary focus is on the experiences of a young medium, Beppina, through whom the author conducts various experiments, engaging with spiritual apparitions that reflect on broader philosophical themes. At the start of the work, Capuana addresses a friend, Salvatore Farina, sharing previous discussions about spiritism. He sets the stage for a series of writings intended to scrutinize the credibility and meanings behind certain spiritistic claims. Capuana reflects on different manifestations experienced through the mediumship of Beppina, illustrating her encounters with spirits and the complexities of interpreting those experiences. As the narrative unfolds, the tension rises with Beppina’s increasingly intense interactions with these supernatural elements, posing questions about the boundaries of reality, belief, and the human psyche.
