About this book
"The Memoirs of Jacques Casanova de Seingalt, 1725-1798. Volume 23: English" is part of Giacomo Casanova's unfinished memoir written in French during the late 18th century. This volume belongs to the famous Venetian adventurer's sprawling 3,500-page autobiography covering his life until 1774. The work faced a turbulent publication history, with heavily censored German and French translations circulating from 1822 onward. English readers encountered only bowdlerized versions until the unexpurgated translation appeared between 1966 and 1971, finally revealing Casanova's unfiltered account of his extraordinary adventures.
